Cast as trainee police officers, players work under direction of the formidable SIO Monica Clark and alongside the diligent Officer Malik, to uncover a body of evidence surrounding Jess’ disappearance. As they move through a variety of locations ranging from Jess’ bedroom to her old college, they inspect and analyse personal items and notes as well as testimonies from Jess’ friends and family. The evidence isn’t always readily available, demanding the player to crack codes and solve riddles to unlock further information. Little by little they piece together the story which details the circumstances leading to Jess’ disappearance - and unlock the key to her whereabouts.
Lost & Found is aimed at an audience of young people aged 11-25 and professionals working with young people in settings ranging from health to education to social care. The interactive story offers a space to explore how feelings of loneliness and isolation might manifest for young people today in response to a variety of pressures. It builds on universal themes of transition and the search for connection when becoming an adult, but also raises questions about the impact of wider societal conditions on young people’s lives.

Lost & Found is based on research from Loneliness Connects Us, a collaborative research project between academics at Manchester Metropolitan University and 42nd Street which ran from October 2016 to July 2019, supported by the Co-op Foundation. The project saw 200+ young people from across the UK engage with the project, sharing their personal and often painful experiences of loneliness.
